Milestones in our history
1943
Saica is founded (Sociedad Anónima Industrias Celulosa Aragonesa) in Zaragoza (España) with six workers at its paper production plant.
1975
Saica begins the integration process with the acquisition of cardboard packaging (Saica Pack) and integrated waste management (Saica Natur) plants.
1987
The first cogeneration plant in the industrial sector in Spain.
1998
Saica opens up for business in France with Saica Paper and Saica Pack.
2000
Saica is leading the way in grammage reduction with the start-up of our MP9, the world's first machine capable of producing grammages up to 75g/m2
2011
Saica inaugurates the first Energy Recovery Plant in El Burgo del Ebro (Zaragoza, Spain) avoiding 450,000 tonnes of waste from the paper production process being sent to landfill.
2012
Saica continues its growth and geographic expansion and opens a new state-of-the-art Saica Paper plant in Partington, near Manchester (UK).
2015
Saica begins its diversification with the opening of the Natur Cycle Plus plant. Facilities for the production of more than 9,200 tonnes of recycled pellets from recycled Low Density Polyethylene.
2015
Saica continues its diversification process by acquiring flexible packaging plants (Saica Flex).
2018
Our presence in Europe is increased with the acquisition of the French Emin Leydier Group.
2019
The start of decarbonisation at Saica: inauguration of the first biomass boiler in Venizel
2020
Launch of the Saica Pack Hamilton project in the U.S.A.
