Saica Group unveils £10 million warehouse project in Hartlepool, accelerating growth and sustainability
Hartlepool, 25 Feb 2025
New facility project will store up to 9,000 pallets and support local employment, reinforcing Saica Group’s long-term commitment to the UK Northeast market
Hartlepool, UK (February 25th, 2024) – Saica Pack, the corrugated packaging
division of the Saica Group, has launched its new £10 million warehouse
facility project in Hartlepool. This major investment marks Saica Group’s
continued commitment to long term growth and innovation in the Northeast,
solidifying its footprint across the UK to meet the growing service demands of
customers nationwide.
Designed with future growth in mind,
the new facility will house up to 9,000 pallets – more than double the typical
capacity of most warehouses in the region, which average around 4,250 pallets.
This expansion will serve as a strategic hub for Saica Pack’s growth-driven
goals, offering further capacity for both sheet and converted corrugated
products. The space will also feature a dedicated area for the logistics team
and a resting zone for drivers, optimising efficiency and support across
operations.
A key feature of the new warehouse is
its integration of renewable energy solutions. The facility will incorporate solar
panels, expected to generate up to 10% of the plant’s total energy needs,
reducing carbon footprint of the operations and reinforcing Saica’s commitment
to environmental responsibility. This forward-thinking approach demonstrates
the company’s resolve to build a greener and more sustainable future.
Riccardo Tonelli, Saica Pack
Northeast Regional Director, commented “This investment in Hartlepool is a
key milestone in Saica’s long-term commitment to the region. It reflects our
deep commitment to delivering exceptional service, enhancing our operational efficiency,
and creating sustainable solutions for our customers. By integrating renewable
energy and supporting local employment, we’re not just expanding our business –
but strengthening our foundation for decades of growth and progress.”
Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor, said
"This £10 million investment is a fantastic boost for Hartlepool, creating
new opportunities and showcasing a strong commitment to our region. With its
focus on renewable energy and local employment, this project reinforces what
we’re all about - growing our economy in a way that supports our people and our
planet.”
"I’m proud to see global leaders like Saica doubling down on their presence here and I look forward to seeing this state-of-the-art facility take shape.”
The project is set to commence from 6th January 2025, with construction expected to continue throughout the year. Once completed, the facility will improve Saica’s delivery capabilities and further strengthen its mission to deliver innovative and sustainable packaging solutions to drive both business success and environmental sustainability.
