Saica Flex Achieves a BRC Packaging Certificate, the Most Prestigious in the Manufacturing of Flexible Packaging

With a grade AA BRC Packaging issue 5 Certificate, Saica Flex revalidates this recognition, which it was awarded for the first time in December 2015 with a grade A. For its part, Saica Flex Madrid receives a grade A; both awards are in the category of High Hygiene Standards.

This international standard establishes a management model and good practice protocol, with the aim of ensuring the legal adherence and food safety of the packaging.

The Aragon-based multinational company, Saica, has achieved the BRC Packaging issue 5 certificate for their Flex area, which manufactures flexible packaging. This certificate is considered as a great prestige for factories that produce these types of products.
With this recognition, the Saica Flex Zaragoza plant revalidates this distinction with the AA grade rather than the A grade that it received for the first time in December 2015. Saica Flex Madrid was awarded with the grade A; both in the category of High Hygiene Standards which places value on the application of a series of requirements in the manufacturing of packaging designed for products which require the highest levels of hygiene.
The standard, developed in the United Kingdom from an agreement between the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and the Institute of Packaging (IOP), is internationally recognised. It establishes a technical reference and a good practice manufacturing protocol as an addition to the security management systems applied.
The format of the standard allows for a third party, in other words the certification body, to evaluate the company’s facilities, operative systems and procedures. The aim is to ensure the food safety and legality of the packaging processes, and furthermore to specify the safety, quality and operation criteria that should be present in companies that manufacture these types of products.
Likewise, the standard requires the commitment of the Management Team to ensure the correct management of dangers and risks, the quality management and the product safety, the standards regarding the installations and control of processes, products and personnel.
After satisfactorily overcoming the audit, where a rating from AA to D is given (AA / A/ B / C/ D), the manufacturers receive this certificate, which guarantees the safety and quality of the packaging that is in contact with food and with which the distributers and superstores qualify their providers.
