Saica Promotes Innovation in Technology that Respects the Environment

The submission of applications will be open until 7 April and all graduates who are enrolled in a Master’s programme can apply.
The award includes a cash prize and a paid internship at Saica, in which students can research topics related to their studies, as well as more advanced and efficient technology.
This Tuesday, the School of Engineering and Architecture of the Universidad de Zaragoza, at the Río Ebro Campus, was the stage for the third edition of the Faculty Prize “Saica Sustainable Solutions”. This is recognition aims to encourage and boost research projects in the area of energy sustainability and its application in the industrial sector, and to annually recognise those outstanding students that show a great deal of motivation to work in this field.
The award, which Martín Ramos won in the second edition, is open to all Engineering or Sciences graduates that are enrolled in an official university master at the Universidad de Zaragoza. Candidates should send their CV, an official certificate of the grades they achieved in their undergraduate degree and a cover letter to the Head of the Faculty, Alberto Gonzalo at the email address: agonca@unizar.es by 7 April.
Once the application period is over, a panel comprised of the director of the Saica faculty prize and of members of the Joint Commission will study the profiles of the applicants. In the first phase, the graduate’s academic record will be evaluated, as well as their CV, with particular credit being given to studying or completing internships abroad. The five candidates with the highest points will go through to the second phase which involves a personal interview.
The award consists of a 1,000 euro cash prize and a six month paid internship at Saica where they can work on developing topics related to their studies. This period, which will start pursuant to an agreement between the winner and the company, will finish with the completion of an end-of-master’s degree project on a technical project within the company.
In the award’s presentation ceremony, the following participated: Chemical Engineering and Environmental Technology Department teacher and director of Saica Sustainable Solutions, Alberto Gonzalo; Head of Chemical Engineering, Rafael Bilbao, director of R+D+i of the Saica Group and president of the Joint Commission of the Faculty, Federico Asensio; director of New Business and Materials Development at Saica, Ricardo Cañavate, Campus Saica Manager, Óscar Ovelleiro and the winner of last year’s edition Martín Ramos.
