Saica Group achieves high ratings on its performance assessment regarding climate change

Saica Group has received one of the highest ratings awarded by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), strengthening its position as a leading company in actions against climate change within the paper and packaging sector. On 10th December, when the ratings were made public, Saica Group obtained an A-.

The CDP is a non-profit organisation that helps investors, businesses, cities and states to rank companies according to their performance on climate change, water and forests. Participants must detail their strategy and senior management commitment to climate change mitigation and responsible water use.

Since 2010, Saica Group has participated in this initiative, which carries out an exhaustive analysis of the companies and their actions in the different areas. The participants must detail, through an exhaustive questionnaire, the objectives and initiatives implemented to reduce the environmental impact, as well as the amount of direct and indirect CO2 emissions, risk disclosure and risk management processes, commitment to the value chain, among other parameters. 

Saica Group, which is involved in the topics of climate change and water management, has improved its rating this year in the climate change section, where it has gone from a B rating (which involves taking coordinated actions related to climate change) to an A- rating (which involves taking the lead in implementing measures that care for the environment). This rating places Saica Group at 30% of the worldwide leading companies in the sector regarding actions against climate change. This rating becomes even more important if we consider that the average for the sector is a D. 

Regarding the questionnaire on water care actions, the other area in which Saica Group participates, the company has obtained a B rating. This acknowledges the great management work that the company continues to carry out and matches the average obtained by the sector.
