Saica celebrate 10th year partnership between PM11 and Valmet Paper

Today marks Saica’s 10 year partnership with Valmet Global, who have supported us in establishing our PM11 site in Manchester by using technology to enhance efficiency & reduce the amount of water & electricity we use.
PM11, winder and main automation system (DCS) were supplied as part of the project by Metso Paper (Valmet now). The mill started up in January 2012 and exceeded all start up curve expectations.
We have had a very close partnership to develop PM11 since the initial project phase. Valmet has been supporting us on several areas: speed development, efficiency development, electricity and water reduction, training and giving us paper making experts that have been working on similar type of machines all around the world.
We have had 3 separate partnership agreements with Valmet, for each agreement we have had different targets and bonus systems.
The main idea of the agreements has been to have regular meetings with agreed work list to work towards to our common target. Valmet has been helping us to train our people, provide specialist help, to push operational limits and help with problem solving.
As part of these agreements we have been able to develop and test new equipment and systems together. One of the keys for this has been that we have been able to develop close partnership with the same people over the years. This has helped us to create a relation of trust.
Our next phase will be continuing on efficiency development but also working together to improve our services.
