Saica Workers and the Aragonese Multinational Company Sign the New Non-Stop Agreement

The agreement establishes a 1% salary increase for 2014 and 2015, plus a bonus of 400 and 200 euros respectively, a 1.5% increase in 2016 and a 1.8% increase in 2017 and 2018, plus the guarantee to maintain employment from 2009 for the current workforce is renewed.

The signing of the new agreement gives stability to the multinational company from Aragon to focus on the big investments that are starting in the El Burgo de Ebro factory for the value of 146.4 million euros.

This Monday, the Negotiating Table of Saica’s Non-Stop agreement has signed the company’s new collective agreement for the 347 employees that work in the Saica Paper plants in Zaragoza and El Burgo de Ebro with the non-stop system (rotating shifts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, apart from Christmas and New Year).
The new collective agreement, which is valid for five years (from 2014 to 2018) involves a greater salary revision than that established in the equivalent State Collective Agreement. This way, the agreement establishes a salary increase of 1% from 2014 and 2015, plus a bonus of 400 and 200 euros respectively, a 1.5% increase in 2016 and a 1.8% increase in 2017 and 2018.
Likewise, the guarantee to maintain employment from 2009 for the current workforce is renewed. It also allows for the possibility for each “production line” to establish 1 May and 12/13 October as working days, with one month’s advance notice.
After 38 meetings between workers and the company, the 24 months of negotiations come to an end. The new agreement was ratified, by means of referendum, by 82% of voters last Wednesday 23 March.
The signing of the new agreement gives stability to the multinational Aragonese company to focus on the big investments that are starting in the El Burgo de Ebro factory for the value of 146.4 million euros.
The new expansion project of the plant will involve the creation of 118 permanent jobs. Furthermore, whilst the works that are necessary are carried out throughout the next 22 months, another 500 people will be hired.
